The 369 Method is a manifesting technique that grew in popularity on TikTok in 2020. It involves writing positive affirmations three times per day. Here’s how to make it work for you.
What is the 369 Method?
The 369 Method involves writing down positive affirmations 3 times per day. First you pick a goal and write a positive affirmation about it. Then you write it down 3 times in the morning, 6 times in the afternoon, and 9 times in the evening.
You repeat the process daily until you manifest your goal. It’s that simple. To make it even easier, I created a 369 Method Journal template for you.
So, Why the Numbers 369?
It is said that the inventor Nikola Tesla believed that 3, 6, and 9 were ”divine numbers” that held the keys to unlocking the universe. Today’s 369 Method for manifesting may be based on Tesla’s interest in the numbers, but it is unclear whether there is any further link between the inventor and the modern method.
Is it Supported By Science?
A study by Dr. Gail Mathews showed that people who wrote their goals down were more effective at achieving them than people who simply verbalized them.
Research on Self-Affirmation Theory also supports affirmation methods such as the 369 Method. According to the theory, people are motivated to see themselves as well-adapted, competent, capable, and able to control important outcomes. When our positive self-view is challenged, we experience discomfort. Studies on the theory show that self-affirmations reduced stress and defensiveness, improved problem-solving and boosted academic performance, and led to greater health and even weight loss.
To be fair, research also shows that when we’re struggling with self-esteem or when affirmations are completely unaligned with our self-concept, they can make us feel worse. So, make sure that the statements you pick don’t feel so far from where you are now that you start to question the gap. Start with something believable and aligned with who you are until your self-concept improves. You may also want to seek a mental health provider to work on self-esteem issues that positive affirmations can’t address. 369 Manifesting Method Instructions
Pick a goal that you want to achieve. Turn it into a positive statement that’s in the present tense. For example, you can write I now have my dream career. Write the same statement 3 times in the morning, 6 times in the afternoon, and 9 times in the evening. To make it an easy habit, try to write the affirmations as soon as you wake up, at lunch, and right before bed. Repeat daily until you reach the goal.
